Last week I headed up to Sorrento for a hair shoot with the aim of creating ‘beachy’ looks for an advertising campaign. The shoot was for Foils & Coils, a lovely little salon in Sorrento owned by an equally lovely lass named Jade. Anita and Anika from Scene Models came along for the day, with photographer Otilee and make up artist Constance Bowles in tow. The girls from Foils & Coils did a wonderful job with the hair, and the models looked stunning in designs by Perth label Paper Skye. Keep your eyes peeled for the next edition of X-Press Fashion (out March 18) to see the finished double page spread. If you like what you see, contact Jade and her team on 08 9447 1821, or visit them in the Seacrest Shopping Village on Harman Road. Paper Skye designs are available from Fashion WA. Below are a few behind the scenes snaps…

While out Dropstitching last week, someone I was photographing asked me how long I’ve been blogging and I was stumped – I knew I’d started Dropstitch a few years ago but couldn’t be sure of the exact date. When I got home I checked the archives and realised that the blog was brought in to the realm of the living in June 2007, which makes June 2010 our third year birthday. I’ve decided to celebrate this occasion with a shindig of some description, including an exhibition of Dropstitch photographs, and was wondering if anyone has suggestions about the location…? Also, if anyone knows of somewhere/someone who might like to print some of my favourite Dropstitch photographs at a reasonable price, please let me know!
P.S. Dropstitch is now on Facebook, become a fan

ECU Mt Lawley’s third year Contemporary Fashion class put on a spectacular exhibition and runway show this evening, showcasing their graduating collections. Congratulations to Grace Macri who won the X-Press Fashion Graduate award, which entitles her to a profile in X-Press, including a photoshoot with her garments.

The lovely lasses at Cleo contacted me a while back to see if I would be interested in being part of a feature they were compiling on Australian street fashion photographers, and of course I said yes! Then I did a jig around the room – those who know me have seen this happy jig many times before – it’s based on Gob’s chicken dance from Arrested Development.
Anyway, the February edition of Cleo came out today and I was stoked to discover a full page spread on Dropstitch, as well as one of my favourite Australian bloggers, Hayley Hughes (known to her readers as Fashion Hayley). Also featured are Fernando Frisoni and Paul-Simon Djite. Click on their names to view their blogs.
A big thanks to Cleo for supporting Australian street fashion photographers! If you haven’t picked up a copy of Cleo for a few years, do yourself a favour and re-introduce it to your magazine subscriptions – it’s come a long way from the Cleo I read as a teenager (in a good way), and has some superb fashion shoots.

To see the feature in all its glory, pick up a copy of Cleo February, and flick to page 114.

I bought a Holga camera from Pigeonhole a couple of months ago and I’ve tried to whip it out at recent photoshoots to get some fun shots. Thought I’d share some of my favourites…
