Dress from Bluebird Vintage, Coat by Tobi Stanley

Marsala

Designed by famed Bulgarian architect Iwan Iwanoff back in 1976, Dianella’s Marsala House is a retro futuristic mansion that looks like something out of Saturday Night Fever or Logan’s Run. Once I’d seen photos of Marsala’s exterior and interior I fell instantly in love with its 70s charm, and knew it would be an incredible location for a photoshoot.

After a bit of internet snooping I managed to get in contact with the lovely owners of Marsala who let my team and I invade their home in the name of fashion. These pictures are the result. Hope you dig!

Visual Merchandising for Betts

Tuesday, October 25th, 2011

IMG_7805

Not all that long ago, All Of The Above Creative was contacted by the marketing team at Betts who asked us pitch to some visual merchandising ideas to promote their range for the Spring Racing season. For those unfamiliar with visual merchandising, it’s basically the dressing/styling of windows and stores to entice customers off the street and into a shop… so we wanted to created something colourful, fun and inspiring.

Determined to avoid the obvious, we came up with the concept “Flock into Betts for Spring Racing”, with the idea being that cute little illustrated birds would ‘fly’ around the windows stealing shoes and bags to complete their racing looks. Over the past week Hannah and I have installed the displays at some of Betts’ main WA stores, and have put together kits to send to the eastern states/South Australia, so expect to see a flock of cute birds in the window of your nearest Betts store very soon!

For the big windows at Hay Street we combined the Flock into Betts concept with another idea we had – the Betts boudoir. We decked the windows out to resemble dressing rooms, complete with earrings, hats, a few brightly coloured horse figurines (which were actually zebra toys spray painted, as horse figurines are a bit hard to come by), perfume bottles and other bits of feminine frippery associated with getting all dressed up for a day at the races.

Thought I’d share some photos of my favourite WA displays, including the flagship Hay Street store, and the beautiful new Betts For Her store in Carousel, which you really must check out if you’re ever down that way.  Big thanks to Betts, Rebecca from Petticoat Conspiracy for lending us some of her amazing hats, and to everyone who leant a hand with the VM installations.

Win a $5000 shopping spree

Tuesday, October 11th, 2011

FruityThough I could never hope to wear these Fruity platforms by Betts without face planting, I am definitely investing in a pair for my styling kit – the colours are pure perfection and legs always look long and lean in platforms.

If you’d like to get your mits on $5000 worth of Westfield vouchers (and frankly who wouldn’t?!) then read on, because Betts is offering one lucky lass or lad the chance to score just that. To celebrate the release of their S/S collection, which is a choc-a-block with beautiful platforms, Betts is giving away an epic shopping spree, and to enter all you have to do is take a photo of yourself wearing your favourite shoe style from the collection.

In addition to $5,000 smackeroos, the winner will also receive a one-on-one consultation with a stylist… pretty great, huh? Entries close on Tuesday, October 25. The top entrants will have their photos posted on Facebook so that the public can vote on their favourite look. The top 10 entrants who have the most ‘likes’ will go into the final round, judged by stylist/blogger Candice Lake. Don’t delay, enter today via the Betts website.
evansI can’t wait to get my hands (and feet) on these awesome flatforms by Betts. Perfect for those of us who are too uncoordinated to get around in high heels, flatforms give you a bit of extra height and are super duper comfy.

A little while ago some very creative friends of mine (who also happen to be members of the All Of the Above Creative family) came over to my place on a sun soaked afternoon to make some pretty pastel pictures. Libby Edwards took on photographic duties with Rebecca Joanne on Beauty, while frocks and frippery were provided by Perth’s wonderful and whimsical Peppermint Milk, On A Whim, Little Gracie, Betts, Pigeonhole and Fox & Rabbit.  Ashlee T from Scene Model Management posed for us and did a splendid job bringing together all of the different elements. I’m releasing these piccies now in anticipation of the Polka Dot Vintage Market at the Claremont Showgrounds this weekend (Aug 20 & 21), where Peppermint Milk and On A Whim will be selling their divine creations, which are made with vintage fabrics and found materials. Doors are open from 9.30am-4.30pm daily and entry is $6. It’s the biggest vintage market in WA so it’s well worth the visit!

Amy wears State Of Georgia tee, vintage hat (thanks Hannah!) and skirt by Timeless

All Of The Above Creative’s Libby Edwards, Rebecca Joanne and myself bundled into a car today, picked up Scene Model’s Amy R, and headed north in search of the perfect setting for a Good Friday photoshoot. Inspired by State Of Georgia’s latest collection (and using some of their lovely garments), we devised a loosely Spanish fashion editorial; here are some behind the scenes snaps from the day’s proceedings. Can’t wait to share the final images with you all!

If you have a moment over the long weekend, please vote for me to win HP Australia’s Front Row Blogger competition, details in the post below. Cheers! Em x
