Though my LMFF experience ended up being a bit of a fail (I caught the worst flu I’ve ever had and spent most of the week bed-bound), I’m happy to be home and cannot wait for an incredibly exciting fashion event that’s set to hit Perth next week. Perth ex-pat and fashion prodigy Kym Ellery has decided to return to her home town for a Trunk Show at the stunning one40william complex, premiering her Royal Tenenbaums/Marie Antoinette inspired S/S RTW 2011 collection before it hits the hallowed runway at Rosemount Australia Fashion Week in May.

The presentation is an initiative of the Perth Fashion Festival and marks the beginning of a year of very exciting events on the WA style calendar. I’ll be backstage taking snaps of the Trunk Show’s preparation and will also cover the runway and street fashion goodness, so expect lots of Ellery love in the coming weeks!

To coincide with the Trunk Show fun, an invite only ELLERY sale will be held on Tuesday, March 29, from 12-6pm. If you want your name on the door for the sale email jbrown@perthfashionfestival.com.au.

I’m loving these photos of Kym’s latest collection, shot on location at Château de Champlâtreux in Paris by Paul Empson. I wish I could transport myself to wintery France – I am so sick and tired of this unrelenting Perth summer!

Late last year the lovely Hannah McGrath and myself put our heads together and hatched a plan for All Of The Above Creative, an agency to represent WA’s finest photographers, stylists, hair and makeup artists.  This Thursday All Of The Above (or AOTA as I like to call it) will launch in grand style with an exhibition of fashion photography at a location in the Perth city. Representing a select group of creatives that includes the likes of Otilee Lamb, Caitlin Worthington, Libby Edwards, Cameron Etchells, Luke Thompson, Emily Howlett, Constance Bowles, Sam Enticknap, Jody Fiannaca, Rebecca Joanne, plus Hannah and myself, the agency will advocate for some of our state’s most talented emerging creatives on the rise (if I don’t say so myself!).  You don’t have to wait too much longer to check out our website, it will go live at our launch of Thursday, March 3.

Lusting For Lace

As a lover of fashions from eras gone by, I’ve always had an affinity for white lace, and luckily for me, lots of designers have utilised lace for their spring/summer collections this year. One such designer is Stella McCartney, who has called on this classic fabric for her latest Designers For Target collaboration.

Instead of just using classic white lace, Stella has incorporated navy blue into her Target collection and the results are stunning. I’m particularly fond of the ‘lace dress in French blue’ and the ‘lace t-shirt in ivory’ – both of which are so effortlessly elegant.

For the next edition of X-Press Fashion I’m planning on using as many lace items as I can get my hands on, with the main photoshoot heavily inspired by Picnic At Hanging Rock. More on that at a later date…

If you want to get your hands on any of the items from Stella’s Designers For Target collection be sure to pop in to Target from Friday, October 29, onwards. If the previous collections are anything to go by, garments are likely to sell out super duper fast, so I suggest you be waiting when the doors open tomorrow if you want a piece of the collection.
