Without doubt, my favourite event of any Australian fashion festival is the student runway, so I was stoked to get media accreditation to LMFF’s National Graduate Showcase. Last night the Showcase took centre stage at Docklands, presenting collections from 12 of our nation’s most exciting emerging designers, including offerings from WA’s own Celene Bridge and Jennifer Nebel from Curtin University.

LMFF Fashion Full Stop

I kicked off my L’Oreal Melbourne Fashion Festival experience last night with Fashion Full Stop, a huge musical and dancing extravaganza with a bit of fashion thrown in. As much as I loved Michelle Jank’s styling, I found the constant presence of dancers distracting, particularly when they were grinding in my face wearing hyper coloured g-string leotards for a ‘Let’s Get Physical’ number. The show featured a huge number of garments from an array of designers, including the likes of Arnsdorf, Alpha60,  Jenny Kee, Akira, Willow, Flannel, Zimmermann, Romance Was Born and many many more.

The highlight of my night was catching up with the amazing Jenny Kee who I met last year at the Stella McCartney for Target party. She’s a truly wonderful and inspiring woman and her designs are nothing short of stunning! Jenny has actually just launched an online store selling her wonderful creations, be sure to check it out.

Melbourne Bound

After a seriously hectic couple of weeks getting All Of The Above Creative off the ground and sending the Autumn edition of X-Press Fashion to the printers, I’m packing my bags and heading to Melbourne this weekend for L’Oreal Melbourne Fashion Festival. I’ve done RAFW and PFF before so it will be interesting to see how Melbourne sizes up… I am really looking forward to attending as many shows and events as possible, capturing some Melbourne street fashion while I’m at it. I haven’t had any word on whether my media accreditation has been approved or not, so I have no idea which shows I’ll be invited to… fingers crossed I get some tickets! Has anyone else received accreditation yet?
