On a cold and windy day a few weeks back, Caitlin Worthington, Rebecca Joanne and myself bundled into a car and headed north for a photoshoot at Burns Beach with one of my favourite models – the amazing Amy Raats from Scene Model Management. Big ups to Amy for braving the icy cold weather for the sake of fashion, and to Canada’s String Magazine for publishing this All Of The Above Creative collaboration.

If variety is in fact the spice of life, then my life is a hard core curry. Such a weird saying… But there’s some truth to it! One of the things I love most about being a stylist is that I get to work on a broad range of projects with an array of really talented professionals, projects such as this – Orient Express – a fashion editorial by some top notch members of the All Of The Above Creative family.  Photographed by Luke Thompson with makeup artistry by Sam Enticknap, hair styling Jody Fiannaca and styling by yours truly, the shoot was inspired by the Oriental-esque collections that have been popping up on runways of late.  Thanks to Pamika @ Scene Models for posing for us, Ashleigh Holman for being my Assistant Stylist and to Zara Bryson, Planet Clothing, Grace & Favour and Subway DC for lending us their amazing threads. And can I just say – praise the universe that a designer had the inspired idea of combining kimonos and sequins – it’s a marriage made in heaven! Nice work Odylyne.

Remember that road trip up to New Norcia I blogged about ages ago? Well the images have finally been published and are now live on String Magazine’s website. Shot by the amazing miss Libby Edwards @ All Of The Above Creative, with beauty by Rebecca Joanne @AOTA, styling by yours truly and modeled by Amy Raats @ Scene Model Management, the shoot was inspired by State Of Georgia’s last collection, which channels a classic Spanish look. The title of the shoot, Encantamiento Inutil, translates to Useless Curse. Check it out on String’s website – www.stringmagazine.ca

Without realising it, I seem to have recently changed the focus of content on Dropstitch from street fashion snaps to behind-the-scenes pics from my styling adventures. I would love to be publishing more street fashion images but haven’t been going out socially much recently because I’ve been busy working on All Of The Above when I’m not at X-Press, have been planning and styling lots of shoots and have succumbed to two nasty and prolonged flus, and thus haven’t had much opportunity to hunt for cool outfits! How do you feel about the shift in focus? Do you miss street fashion snaps and want them back or are you happy seeing pics from locally produced fashion editorials? I’m very interested in hearing your thoughts…

In keeping with the shift, here are some pics from my latest project – an Oriental inspired shoot with All Of The Above’s Luke Thompson (photography), Jody Fiannaca (hair styling) and Samantha Enticknap (make up artistry). Big thanks to Ashleigh for being my assistant stylist and to Pamika from Scene Model Management for posing for us! I’ll share the finals snaps soon I’m sure :)

All Of The Above Creative’s Libby Edwards, Rebecca Joanne and myself bundled into a car today, picked up Scene Model’s Amy R, and headed north in search of the perfect setting for a Good Friday photoshoot. Inspired by State Of Georgia’s latest collection (and using some of their lovely garments), we devised a loosely Spanish fashion editorial; here are some behind the scenes snaps from the day’s proceedings. Can’t wait to share the final images with you all!

If you have a moment over the long weekend, please vote for me to win HP Australia’s Front Row Blogger competition, details in the post below. Cheers! Em x
