The lovely, sartorially gifted Susie from Style Bubble

I’m home sweet home after a wonderful week in Sydney for Rosemount Australia Fashion Week, filled with enthusiasm for fashion and the Australian fashion industry. Before I hopped a plane back to Perth though I went to a few more shows, including that of WA label Ae’lkemi in the OPT’s Cargo Hall. Ae’lkemi designer Alvin rearranged the seating for his show which turned out to be a great move because everyone had a great view, unlike many of the other shows held in that space (*cough* Zambesi *cough*).

After Ae’lkemi I headed upstairs for The Innovators, a showcase of work by four designers from NSW tafes.  Designers on show included Christopher Dobosz, Elliot Ward-Fear, Caroline Fuss and Nicholas Christense and all four presented stunning collections.  Nobody need fear for the future of the Australian fashion industry, we’re in safe hands with designers like these four in our ranks.

I bet Lady Gaga would love the above design by Elliot Ward-Fear

Highlights of the week included meeting and photographing Susie Lau of Style Bubble fame, meeting some of the editors from Australian Vogue (and sitting next to them at shows!), drinking cocktails with Claire Davies (STM) and Mariella Harvey-Hanrahan (Director of PFF) at the Ant!podium party in Kings Cross, having my photo taken for Harpers Bazaar, and of course, seeing so many West Australian designers doing us proud! I am a very lucky lass indeed 🙂
