The Last Emperor is a behind-the-scenes look at the world of fashion featuring unprecedented access to the high temples of Haute Couture. The film is an intimate, engaging and funny fly-on-the-wall portrait of legendary fashion designer Valentino, along with his longtime partner, Giancarlo Giammetti. It follows them for the final two years of their careers, nearing the end of their 50-year reign at the top of the world’s most glamorous and competitive game. The struggle of art against commerce is at the centre of the film, but ultimately it proves to be an unexpectedly moving love story.
