One of my favourite duties as the fashion editor of X-Press is being able to present outstanding fashion students with the X-Press Fashion Graduate Award. With all the grad shows fast approaching, I’ve had the opportunity to get up close with students’ final year collections at Curtin University and Central Institute for some judging, and their work is incredible! I checked out the Curtin collections on Thursday; unfortunately I didn’t have my camera on me so I don’t have any snaps to share but believe me, the garments are amazing! I had a really hard time choosing just one student to give the award to… more on that later! The winner(s) will be revealed at Curtin’s Collective Threads show, which is set to take place on December 1. Find out more here.

This morning I headed to Central Institute to check out more collections and once again, I was thrilled to discover some really great designs and impeccable construction work.  This time round I had the forethought to bring my camera so voila, here’s a sneak peek at what you can expect from Hit The Roof at the Bakery next Tuesday, November 23.

Students – I forgot to note down the name of the designer of the dress above; comment and tell me who it’s by!
